Derby-based Birchover Hotel Apartments has been bought by its management team. The buyout follows a period of “sustained success” at the apart-hotel.
The business, which has been owned by John Gould since its inception 20 years ago, has recorded rapid growth in the last three years and won a flurry of awards as 2012 came to a close. Carl and Lisa Bridge have now taken over the hotel.
Under the management of Carl and Lisa, the hotel has risen from 26th to first on Trip Advisor in Derby and revenues have trebled in less than three years.
The new company will be called Birchover Hotel Apartments Ltd. David Nelson of accountancy firm Smith Cooper led the negotiations on behalf of seller BHA Ltd.
John Gould said: “We were one of the pioneers of the serviced apartment concept back in the 1990s and the key principles of that concept have been central to the business throughout this time. This provided the platform for growth seen in the past three years.
“I’m delighted that Carl and Lisa can take the business on to the next level and wish them every success.”
Lisa Bridge added: “The quality of the housekeeping and reception team has provided a bedrock for our success and we’re delighted that we can all work together to achieve our ambitions going forward.”
Birchover Hotel Apartments received awards at the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Family Business Awards in 2012 for Service Excellence, Commitment to People Development and Commitment to the Community.
