‘Topping Out Ceremony’ at Cheval Three Quays Residence – Serviced Apartments London

– A Thames-side development adjacent to the Tower of London –

On 30 January 2013, there was a ‘Topping Out Ceremony’ at Cheval Three Quays.  The ceremony marked a significant milestone, as the superstructure of the building was completed by Mace construction.

The ten-storey building on the north bank of The Thames, directly adjacent to the Tower of London, is another Cheval Residences property.  The site will incorporate 159 serviced and non-serviced apartments.  Work on the site, which had been derelict for over 20 years, commenced on 14 April 2010.  The project will be completed in early 2014.

Located next to a World Heritage Site, Cheval Three Quays is currently the only major residential riverside development taking place on the north bank in Zone One.  Cheval Three Quays’ prime location means that guests will be able to enjoy unrivalled views of The Thames, Tower Bridge, and City Hall.   Cheval Three Quays’ name originates from the establishment of three quays on the site in the 17th Century – Galley Quay, Chester’s Quay and Brewer’s Quay.

The façade will complement the materials and layering of the walls and terraces of the Tower of London.  The building will be clad in limestone panels with glass bays stepping in and out between them.  The inner part of the building will feature slate-coloured, pre-weathered zinc panels.

The focus of the design will be to conserve and enhance the character of the natural and historic environment, while giving the area a new lease of life.  Important points include the introduction of retail/restaurant spaces on the ground floor level of the building, as well as the enhancement of Sugar Quay, which will become a public walkway for the first time in two decades.

The site will feature luxury one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with the interior design being led by Forme Design.  The renowned water sculptor William Pye, who has created works of art at Salisbury Cathedral and the Royal Academy, has been commissioned to create a prominent water feature.
